Why did I take a photo of a page in the bible? That page is of particular importance to me because that is where I ended up when I was trying to think of a name for my daughter. I was really struggling with coming up with a name for her and one day I decided that I would turn to the Bible and see what I came up with. When I opened it up and fanned through the pages, Kings 16 is where I ended up. After reading a few lines Samaria popped right up and I immediately thought Samara!

Samara is a name of Hebrew and Arabic origin, and its means "guardian or protected by God; night talk". We eventually had a few choice lined up but her mother and I settled on Samara right after she was born because of her ‘traumatic’ birth. God really was watching over her at the time.

  1. Oh, I wonder whether you know that we in Russia have a city named Samara and a river named Samara? River Samara is a tributary of the Volga.

  2. Hi Murka,
Thanks for stopping by. I wasn't aware of that. I guess you learn something new every day. Hope to see you around again sometime soon.
