The Ambeli

Pin It Now!

The Ambeli, originally uploaded by gerald.n.

It was my birthday on Friday (18th) and my wife took me out for dinner at the Ambeli which I must say is the best restaurant I have been to. What struck me the most was how the setting was so intimate. The room in which we had our meal had the lights turned down low with candles to help light it up and the music was turned down low which let us have a nice conversation without having to shout at each other. The offer a Mediterranean themed menu and we both settled on the slow cooked crispy duck, mixed bean salad & white balsamic for our main course. It was a bit more expensive than the average restaurant but it was well worth it and I would recommend it to anyone in Wellington looking for perfection.

River-Bank Market, Lower Hutt

Pin It Now! Gourds, River-Bank Market, Lower Hutt
Here are some photos of a fruit and vegetable market that opens on Saturday’s from 8:00am to 2:30pm in Lower Hutt, Wellington. The market is held in a car park on the banks of the Hutt River and there is so much fresh fruit and vegetable for sale at very reasonable prices. The market presented a nice display of fruit, vegetable and people of all shapes, sizes and colour. You can also get yourself some fresh fish and there was even a lady selling interestingly shaped gourds which is something you don’t see everyday.

Autumn Is Here

Pin It Now!

Autumn-Fall in Upper Hutt, originally uploaded by gerald.n.

Just about everywhere you go, you can’t help but notice the leaves are starting to change colour and there are splashes of yellow, gold and red here and there. The photo’s here were taken on a street (Clyma Street, Elderslea, Upper Hutt) just around the corner from my work place and there was just something about the yellow leaves that caught my attention every time I drove by and I just had to take a photo. The onset of the change in colours means a change in temperature and that has already started to drop pretty quickly.
